Detour:
Second Street from Park Avenue to Seaboard Street has been reversed from eastbound lanes to westbound lanes. Seaboard Street from Second Street to Palm Beach Boulevard is now a two-way street. This phase of traffic changes will allow westbound SR 80 traffic to travel into downtown Fort Myers while First Street is closed. First Street from Fowler Street to Seaboard Street will be closed until early 2008 while utilities in that area are replaced.
Palm Avenue is now a one-way street (two lanes northbound). Motorists need to follow traffic signs. Fort Myers Police Department has been redirecting traffic northbound on Palm Avenue. Currently, FMPD is offering an informational warning, but will soon begin to issue traffic citations. Several “one-way” and “wrong way” signs have been added to Palm Avenue. Directional pavement arrows and additional detours signs are also being added.
Motorists traveling over the Edison Bridge to North Fort Myers can use Second Street or Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to access Evans/Park Avenue and the Edison Bridge.
